Real Sociedad’s renaissance under David Moyes shows no sign of letting up as La Real signed off for the international break with three consecutive La Liga victories. The nine points accrued has seen the Basques rise into ninth place – their highest position of the season.
It’s been steady progress for the Scot in charge of Sociedad but his return of W7-D6-L4 from 17 league matches deserves plenty of credit. It’s just one defeat in seven for Moyes’ boys now and with Carlos Vela back to full fitness, La Real are ready to continue their improved performances this weekend with a trip to Malaga.
The odds on the visitors are currently priced at 1.96 with a +0.50 start on the Asian Handicap market and that holds plenty of appeal. Taking this selection means we’ll be in profit should Sociedad avoid defeat on the southern Spanish coast and having lost just four of their 17 fixtures under Moyes, there’s already plenty of promise.
The Basques secured their first away win of the season in their last road trip while only Villarreal, Valencia and Real Madrid have got the better of Sociedad on their travels under Moyes’ tutelage.
Malaga may have surpassed all expectations under Javi Gracia this season but four wins from their previous 12 has slowed progress and La Real are capable of getting at least a point on their visit to La Rosaleda.
Elsewhere, I’m going to invest my faith in Getafe getting a positive result in their relegation six-pointer against Deportivo. The Madrid-based club are available to support at 1.95 with a -0/0.5 Asian Handicap start. For our selection to be a winner, we’ll need Getafe to take all three points. Should the match end all square, we’ll lose half of our stake with a full loss being taken should Deportivo secure an unlikely away victory.
The Deep Blues have bagged wins in three of their previous four at the Coliseum and come up against a Depor side that’s already been beaten in 7/13 (54%) of their road trips since winning promotion, failing to even register a goal in eight of those 13 outings.
