The second from last quarter final games from the FA Cup took place between Liverpool v Blackburn today at Anfield in a game that most will have expected Brendan Rodgers’ side to progress.
The reality of this tie was all too different, with yet another game ending in a draw, and needing a replay. The first of which being on Saturday where Bradford held Reading to a 0-0 draw.
Rovers started the game as you would expect, full of energy and without pressure. The Reds on the other hand started slowly, and became rather lapse in front of goal. Instead trying to rely on penalty decisions that were not forthcoming. Liverpool playing like a side not reflecting their current run of good form in the Barclays Premier League.
Liverpool fans will be glad to hear that Martin Skrtel is making a speedy recovery after falling awkwardly on his neck in an awkward challenge. Skrtel, much to the relief of staff and fans, could be seen gesturing to staff that he wanted to keep playing as he was being stretchered off the field. A fine testiment to the will of the Slovak.
The result means that a replay will be in order, so it’s off to Ewood Park for the Reds in a game that Rovers will be looking to play out a similar strategy.
