England v Lithuania | Euro 2016 Qualifying

28th March 2015

Last night’s victory for England marked a fifth win their Euro Qualifying campaign, and set’s them well on their way to qualifying for next years tournament.

A thoroughly convincing performance, and a scoreline that could have been much higher. Wayne Rooney was in superb form, being denied what could have quite easily been a hat-trick, having been denied by the post on two separate occasions. Demonstrating why he is still the best English national player.

Although last night all eyes were on Harry Kane, with a ‘will he’ or ‘won’t he’ scenario as to whether or not Roy Hodgson would bring on the young Spurs forward. The England boss decided to, and within 80 seconds, Kane planted a header on the end of a Sterling cross, straight into the near post corner.

Here’s a timeline of how the much unfolded:

7 mins – GOAL! Wayne Rooney

(1 – 0)

41 mins – Yellow Card – Marius Zaliukas

45 mins – GOAL! Danny Welbeck

(2 – 0)
